Question by GodisLove09: Hey Christians is anyone in heaven or hell now???
Jesus said that he was going to prepare a place for us and that when he returned again,he would bring believers with him and damn the rest to hell. So where are the souls until he comes again. We Catholics know this as purgatory, I think that the souls are on earth, but can't usually contact the living. I think this explains "hauntings" What do you think??? Peace.

If you are Catholic, then you should believe that the Saints are in Heaven.

ReplyDeleteOf course, those that are God's children and know Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives and have grown in their relationship with Him and are dead now are in heaven now. Those that don't know Christ as Lord and Savior and are dead now are in hell, which is a very sad thing. That's why the gospel needs to be shared with as many people as possible here in this world. What Catholics believe is lost about getting into heaven.
ReplyDeleteWell the story of the rich mand a Lazerous says that the rich man when he died went to hell and could see Lazerous in Abrahams bossom so yes I think that there are people in hell, and heaven already exist so I guess one way to look at it is Jesus prepares a place for people already when they die. ReplyDeleteI think that they're somewhere, resting. It's just like being asleep... to them it will seem as if no time has passed since they died.
ReplyDeletePurgatory is reserved for those who still have sin remaining in them when they die. They need to be "purged" of that sin before entering the Holiness of heaven.
ReplyDeleteSouls of todays deceased are in the presence of the Lord or in hell. I truly believe that judgment is set IMMEDIATELY after death. " We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." (2 Corinthians 5:8)
I believe that our souls are like "sleeping" waiting until the judgement day. I also think that when you die, it's like going under for a surgery...one minute your under the next your awake. Same goes for death on moment you die, then the next God comes and takes his people (their souls).

Actually, no one goes from purgatory to hell. Anyone who goes to purgatory is destined for heaven, eventually.
ReplyDeleteThe Catholic Church teaches that purgatory is a place (or, more appropriately, a spiritual state) for the souls of those whose sins have been forgiven, but who still are encumbered by some amount of self-love. In purgatory, love for self is transformed into perfect love for God.
It is in purgatory that the soul is made perfectly fit to enter heaven, where the Book of Revelation tells us nothing unclean is allowed.
It's really hard to say whether anyone's in heaven or hell now, because they exist outside our place and time. This means that, yes, there are souls in both of those places, as well as in purgatory.

ReplyDeleteActually when people die; they're asleep in the grave. Death is called a sleep (Matt.9:24; John 11:11; 1Cor.15:51; 1Thess.5:10).

The Bible describes three hells.
SHEOL OR HADES, THE FIRST HELL
The first term in Greek and Hebrew means the grave. It's the grave where the dead await the resurrection.
GENESIS 37:35---I SHALL GO DOWN INTO THE GRAVE.
PROVERBS 15:11--HELL & DESTRUCTION ARE BEFORE THE LORD.
ECCLES.9:10---NO WORK...OR KNOWLEDGE...IN THE GRAVE,
MATT.11:23---WILL BE BROUGHT DOWN TO HADES
1COR.15:55---O HADES, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY
GEHENNA, THE SECOND HELL
The second term in New Testament means the place of fiery destruction of the wicked.
MATT.5:22--...BE IN DANGER OF HELL FIRE
MATT.10:28--TO DESTROY BOTH BODY AND SOUL IN HELL
TARTAROO, THE THIRD HELL
This third term is only used once and refers to the place of restraint where the demon spirits were placed following the rebellion against God.
2PETER 2:4---BUT CAST THEM DOWN TO HELL.
THE THREE HEAVENS
There's 3 heavens.
First Heaven = This is also called the firmament or expanse of heaven. It is the heaven where the birds fly and where the clouds give rain. (Gen.1:26; 2:20; 8:2 & 1Kings 18:45)
Second Heaven = This refers to outerspace where the sun, moon and stars can be found. (Gen.22:17 & Exodus 32:13 & Joshua 10:13)
Third Heaven = The Apostle Paul tells us that the heaven of God's abode is the "third heaven." In the Old Testament this is often designated by the phrase "the heaven of heavens." (Joshua 2:11 & Psalms 11:4 & 2Corinthians 12:2 equated with v.4 = paradise)
THERE ARE TWO KINGDOMS: ONE ON EARTH AND THE OTHER ONE COMING DOWN FROM HEAVEN.
The 1st Kingdom of Heaven =
DAN.7:27 = "AND THE KINGDOM AND DOMINION, AND THE GREATNESS OF THE KINGDOM UNDER THE WHOLE HEAVEN, SHALL BE GIVEN TO THE PEOPLE OF THE SAINTS OF THE MOST HIGH, WHOSE KINGDOM IS AN EVERLASTING KINGDOM, AND ALL DOMINION SHALL SERVE AND OBEY HIM."

Well, this is a tough question. I really don't know what the real answer is. But, do you remember the story of the beggar and the rich man in Luke? :

---Well, It says the rich man was in hell. But is says something about the angels taking the believer to abramah's bosom .I dont really know what is is though.
John 14:
[2] In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
[3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
nobody is in heaven or hell right now. they are in a sort of "purgatory", but I don't like using that word. The thing is that nobody goes to heaven or hell until Jesus returns. The people that die before this arn't just waiting around for that time though. Time travels faster in this sort of "pergatory", and as soon as you die, you are with jesus and everyone else that has died through time. This is when judgement happens. I don't think this has anything to do with "hauntings".
ReplyDeleteSome are already in heaven, such as angels and of course, Enoch and Ezekiel, which were taken up without having died first. The rest are sleeping until Judgment.

ReplyDeleteYes their are people in heaven and people in hell. He resurrected those great souls who died before him. I am not sure he will damn the people to hell but the unrighteous will be burnt off the earth when he returns. I am a Mormon and the teachings are much the same between our churches, we do not call it purgatory but have the same place in mind. And yes I also think that in some way the souls of those are closer then we may think, but have no idea how. Maybe we just cannot see them or maybe they are in something like a parallel universe who knows?

ReplyDeleteI rejoice that those who have not rejected Jesus Christ the Lord and have died are in Heaven with Him. Every child brought forth knows God (John 1). Everyones names are written in the Lamb's book of Life at the Foundation of the world. This is God's salvation plan. Some names are blotted out because they reject God's Truth.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in purgatory, but I believe that God put's people in a safe place who rejected God & blamed Him for people's sin.
Some people are in Hell right now because they rejected Jesus Christ. An example would be that Huff guy who hated the youth of the Rave scene. In His own self-righteous belief He killed innocent Youth (Who I have prayed about) then Himself. He went to hell while the ones He killed are in Heaven with the Lord. I've asked the Lord about these youth. Likewise, any terrorist who kills self while killing others ends up in Hell. This is a sin unto death that we cannot pray for. We can pray for the victims and those who mourn of course.
People go to where the Lord puts them. Heaven or Hell or a place of rest. Jesus has the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven and also has the keys to Death & Hell. When He rose from the grave, He rose victorious with the keys to Death and Hell.
Those who will end up in the Lake of Fire, the 2nd death, will be the False Prophet & Beast, then Satan, then Death & Hell, and then those whose names are not found in the book of life.
It is written in the bible to not talk with the dead. It is a sin. There are Spiritual wickedness that will pretend to be one's loved one. They are usually a familiar spirit that knows about one's family. They are a generational curse that is passed on to those that hate God. Read Exodus 20.
The hauntings are devils, demons, familiar spirits, etc. It is best to go to God in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit about your loved ones that have passed away. God knows.
My take is that there is purgatory and paradise that is seperated from one another. Then on judgement day everyone gets judged to go into heaven or hell.
