Since Morgellons Disease was reported in the mainstream media in 2005, there has been no real progress made in discovering the cause, how Morgellons is contracted and transmitted, if it is contagious or if it is directly responsible for deaths other than suicides. Deaths are increasing exponentially and so is the level of infection in the global population.
The symptoms are right out of a science fiction novel: ‘brain fog’ (confusion like ADHD), severe depression, deep bone and muscle ache just like fibromyalgia, severe chronic fatigue just like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (Morgellons victims sleep 10 to 16 hours a day and are still exhausted), multi-colored fibers growing from their skin that are coated in high-density polyurethane that will not burn until 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit, and most bizarre, they experience animals that relentlessly move and bite the victim under their skin 24/7.
Morgellons victims loose their lives to this disease; MD’s and Dermatologist dismiss the symptoms as Delusions of Parasitosis (DOP), a subset of schizophrenia. The Medical Community treat their Morgellons patients much like HIV/AIDS patients were treated 30 years ago when that disease was new. These victims are shunned by family and employers and are left alone without support and eventually become severely depressed, hopeless and suicidal.
Over forty US Senators and Congressmen has written letters to the Centers for Disease Control requesting an investigation into this bizarre disease.
The CDC began its investigation in Oakland, California at the Kaiser-Permanente Hospital in January, 2008 and is expected to release its finding in May 2009. The funding was a mere $ 338,000; barely enough to set up the investigation. Inside sources say that the remainder of the funding comes from the US Army.In the past 5 years, there has been little funding to scientifically explore the cause(s) and treatments to help the Morgellons suffers begin to ‘get their lives back’. There are small pockets of individuals who are conducting their own Morgellons investigation with little or no funding. The Morgellons Research Foundation, located at Oklahoma State University, is severely underfunded and has expressed no interest in finding any relief for Morgellons victims, but rather focuses on discovering the cause of this mysterious new disease. Meanwhile, Morgellons victims search relentlessly on the Internet for some clue as to how to eliminate their suffering.
Worse, there is no spokesperson to bring to the public eye the incredible torment Morgellons victim’s experience. The scientists that are willing to discuss Morgellons at all say that there are at least 10,000 new Morgellons victims a day in the USA alone. Most will not get diagnosed correctly and will be given a DOP label to labeled in their medical record for life as mental patients. Included in this number of new Morgellons victims are celebrities, Senators and Congressmen and other public figures. Until one or more of them steps up and shares their Morgellons suffering with the world, the rest of us will remain asleep to Morgellons until each of us becomes the next Morgellons sufferer. Until a celebrity has the courage and conviction to publically announce their Morgellons disease and encourage mainstream science to fund and investigate Morgellons disease, the silent suffering will continue.

The Battle of Los Angeles is an event that is often unheard of or forgotten. However, it could be the most important event in the history of alien experiences. The year was 1942 shortly after our country had entered the war. The military spotted an unidentified flying object over the city and immediately assumed that it was a Japanese aircraft.
There was a blackout in the city as the air raid sirens were sounded and the military positioned itself for attack. Spotlights flooded the craft and the assault began. For what some say was over an hour (although other reports say 20 minutes) our military unleashed a firestorm of bullets and anti- aircraft artillery at the alien spacecraft. However, they were unsuccessful at bringing down the strange object in the sky. At least one person in the area died of heart failure because of the panic brought forth from this object.
A cease fire was eventually called and the questions immediately began to surface.
Having absolutely no answers as to what the UFO was initially, the military soon came forward with an explanation. You guessed it. A weather balloon. Our military had engaged in battle with a balloon. In this battle, that they had apparently lost, nobody seemed to notice, even with multiple spotlights that they were firing at a weather balloon. They were also unable to bring down this balloon, even with the awesome firepower unleashed upon it. Tough balloon? Or something else? Five years later, the most famous alleged U.F.O. crash in history occurred in Roswell, NM. The government was there to pick up the pieces and once again, let the public know that it was nothing more than a weather balloon that had crashed that day. Something seems strange about both of these occurrences and it seems like the public has been left in the dark. The Loch Ness Monster first made its "appearance" in 565 in St Columba's biography, but it was more recent times that brought the legend to life. It has been 75 years since the first photographic "proof" of Nessie appeared. Since then, thousands of photos and stories have emerged.
Although there were several reports of sightings before then, the first photograph was taken by Hugh Gray in November 1933. Although grainy and misty, the photo shows something in the loch. There are many speculations as to what the photo is actual of.
People from all over the world wanted to get a glimpse of the creature, some determined to capture it. There have been numerous expeditions into the loch in search of evidence. In the 1960s, a ten year analysis was made. Sonar studies in 1968 found multiple large animate objects, but were unable to identify them.
An expedition in 1987 reported several unidentified moving objects. There have also been strange sound recordings.Constant hoaxes make it difficult to prove the existence or non-existence of Nessie. Many photographs have been altered to present a monster. One of the most famous is known as the "surgeon's photo", which presents a plesiosaur-like creature. (Plesiosaurs were long necked water dinosaurs believed to be extinct for several million years). This photo seemed to be legitimate evidence for almost 30 years, until revealed as a fake in 1994. Many other photos have been explained as birds, otters, deer, seals, and more.
The possibility of the Loch Ness Monster increased due to the recent discovery of a coelacanth fish that was believed to be extinct hundreds of millions of years ago. The discovery of "Nessie's Lair", a large underwater cavern, has added to the possibility suggesting there could be a network of caves for such a creature to hide in.
You can decide for yourself whether you believe or not, but the legend continues to grow.

By her own account, 37-year-old graphic designer Di Coke is a winner -- and the record backs her claim.
Coke, who lives in Nottingham, England, with her 38-year-old husband, Rob, is obsessed with winning contests and has done pretty well for herself.
In the last 13 years, she's won more than $ 284,000 worth of prizes, including more than $ 50,000 in cash, a pink VW beetle worth around $ 19,000 and more than 30 vacations to places like Brazil, Antigua, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland and New York, according to Express.co.uk.
Di even won her father's weight in chocolate once.
What makes her do it? Coke told BBC reporter Tim Muffet that it's the thrill of the chase.
"It's a hugely thrilling and exciting hobby, and every time you win something -- even if it's a tiny thing -- you get really excited, so you just want to enter more and more," she said. "I don't think I'd ever be able to give it up. That's probably saying I'm an addict."
People have been entering magazine and newspaper contests for more than 100 years, but the rise of the Internet in the last 20 years has made taking part much easier, and the advent of social media has increased the scope of contests. Yet there is little proven research about their potential addictiveness.
Still, Marc Griffiths, a gambling studies expert at Nottingham Trent University, said the growing evidence suggests there's a link between gambling and "contesting," at least in Britain.
"Since the introduction of the National Lottery in 1994, gambling has become more socially acceptable," he told the BBC. "What we're seeing now is a convergence between gambling, gaming and competitions. All these things are coming together now."
Coke told the Express.co.uk that her first contest win was a TV and, after that, she was hooked.
Early wins like that are often the worst thing that can happen, Griffiths said.
"If you win early in your playing career, that actually keeps you going a long, long time after you would normally stop," he told the BBC.
But where some "contesters" rely on chance, Coke has a system for winning big -- and often.
"Go for competitions that require the most effort," she told the BBC. "With simple prize draws, there's going to be thousands of entries and you won't have a good chance of winning. Competitions that require a photo or a video or a recipe aren't going to get many entries at all. I actually won a contest last year where I was the only entry. That was a holiday."

USACE dewaters fishways for maintenance and repairs

Bonneville Dam dewaters some of its fishways each winter for maintenance and repairs. The level to which the fishway is dewatered depends on the work to be done; if equipment below the tailwater level needs repair, the ladders are completely drained and we sometimes encounter sturgeon sheltering in the lower areas. These large numbers, however, are a recent and as yet unexplained phenomenon.
This January it required 15-20 biologists, crane operators and riggers almost four days to safely return about 1,700 sturgeon sheltering in the Washington Shore fish ladder entrance to the river. The sturgeon were loaded into a large water tank, hoisted by a crane over the tailrace, and dropped into the water. The tank could not be lowered all the way into the water due to the turbulent discharge from the dam that might have dragged the tank and crane. Thanks to the diligent efforts of the team, there was no mortality among the stranded fish. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo)

There was no shortage of animal mischief this week.
A monkey at the Memphis Zoo was quite jealous of a tall human this week and attempted quite an acrobatic attack.
A nine-year-old Hawaiian monk seal was flown from the Midway Islands to a temporary home at the Waikiki Aquarium in Hawaii this week. The aggressive seal, known as KE18, has killed two other Hawaiian monk seals and wounded at least 11. Hawaiian monk seals are the "most endangered marine mammal in the United States," according to the Associated Press, and officials had planned to euthanize KE18 for "his propensity for nudging his own species toward extinction."
Other animals are a little more well-behaved. This unique photograph from a zoo near London appears to be catch an otter in the middle of prayer.

Officials in Zimbabwe have arrested four Chinese nationals for killing and eating endangered tortoises. According to the Associated Press, the group admitted to killing 40 Bell's hinged tortoises.

WINNIPEG - An animal rights group wants to set up a roadside memorial sign in western Manitoba for cows killed in a highway crash, awarding bovines the same treatment human crash victims receive.
But the province has given the idea the hoof.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, is asking the Manitoba government for permission to place a sign along Highway 5 near Carberry, about 170 kilometres west of Winnipeg, where 71 cows died after a semi collided with a train on Jan. 31.
"A memorial sign will serve as a tribute to those dozens of cows who had been severely injured and killed on their way to slaughter," PETA spokesperson Emily Lavender said from Ottawa.
The sign would also be a way to draw attention to the group's concerns over how animals are treated before they reach the slaughterhouse.
"Painful mutilations, transport for often hundreds of kilometres in Canada's freezing winters and scorching hot summers and even prolonged suffering at the slaughterhouse are just the tip of the iceberg," Lavender said.
The government quickly rejected the idea.
"Roadside memorials are meant to be there for families and communities who have experienced the loss of a loved one," Rachel Morgan, press secretary for Infrastructure and Transportation Minister Steve Ashton, wrote in an email.
"The department has no intention of changing the meaning behind these memorials."
The department has a policy that requires memorials to be requested only by relatives of the deceased, Morgan added.
PETA applied for a similar memorial in Illinois last year, but was denied. The state's Roadside Memorial Act specifies that only relatives who lost loved ones in highway crashes can request memorials.
In 2006, Virginia rejected PETA's request for highway markers to memorialize hogs killed in crashes on their way to slaughter.
The province's cattle producers association denied PETA's accusation that cows are mistreated.
"Cattle producers care very deeply about their animals," said Cam Dahl, general manager of Manitoba Beef Producers.
"We're always looking for ways of reducing stress on animals and making sure that they do get to where they're going healthy."
PETA asked that the proposed sign read "Careless Driving Costs Lives: In Memory of 71 Cows."

That thing you are staring at and trying desperately to understand is a "Chupacabra/Montauk Monster." Or at least that is what the tipster who sent it into Vice called it. It supposedly washed up on a San Diego beach just last week. At approximately two feet in length, it has the face of some sort of tusked boar and makes a weekly appearance in my nightmares. Whether you believe that it is real or not it is up to you to decide, but I am pretty sure that is the most terrible sea-demon you will see today. And one more for our collection of Montauk Monsters.

The Tower of London holds many fascinating and eerie secrets behind its somber, grey walls. This awesome palace (once residence of the Kings and Queens of England) and fortress of old was erected in 1066-87 with the largest 'White Tower' as its first building.
In the mid 16th century it became known as the 'Bloody Tower' when it was suspected that the imprisoned 'Princes in the Tower' (child sons of King Edward IV and nephews of Ricard III) had also become victims of the countless and brutal murders which the tower has become famous.
On entering the Tower of London through the Middle and Byward towers, you carry on through 'Traiter's Gate'. This river entrance is where many prisoners, including Queen Anne Boleyn (King Henry VIII's second wife) and her brother travelled to their doom... be it the dungeons, or to the Wakefield Tower where merciless regimes of torture were carried out.
Queen Anne Boleyn (it is believed by many) was falsely accused of treason, witchcraft, adultery and incest with her brother after Henry VIII became convinced their marriage was cursed when Anne could not bear him the son he longed for.
He was determined to be rid of Anne and pave the way for Jane Seymour to became his third wife...the only one to later bear him a son (Edward VI - 1537-1553).Henry ordered the arrest of five men he accused of being Anne's lovers, which also included her brother. Every one of them denied this claim until tortured.
The five men were executed on Tower Hill on May 17th 1536...Anne Boleyn followed them two days later. It was said that she met her end with the dignity and beauty she was famed for during her short life.
Many of the guards of the tower have witnessed Anne Boleyn's ghost. One evening a guard reported watching as Anne lead a courtly procession across the tower green and on towards Tower Hill where she had been executed.
On another occasion, a group of guards where horrified when her apparition appeared so close - one of them was able to prod at the image before it faded before them.
The guards ('Yeoman of the Guard') have watched the towers since 1509, therefore, it is hardly surprising that many have a ghostly tale to tell. One of the most noted is that of the ghost of King Henry VI.
At the age of 49 yrs the King was savagely murdered in the Wakefield Tower whilst in his chambers in 1471 as he knelt in prayer. It is wrote: "the hour before midnight the King was stikk'ed full of deadly holes, wielded by the Duke of Gloucester".
On the anniversary of Henry VI's death, his apparition has been seen on many annual occasions by guards. They say he paces the floors of the Wakefield Tower as the clock reaches the hour of his death... then as the clock chimes the last second of midnight, he fades into the stone walls... until the following year.

The image of the girl did not appear until we looked back at the images afterwards. I am sure there is a scientific explanation for this.

I fixed the photo just a bit, only to adjust exposure, contrast, etc., to make the shape stand out, but I didn't manipulate anything else in any way.
