When listening to radio online, it times out or cuts out. Why?

Question by Upward Bound Precalc Tutor: When listening to radio online, it times out or cuts out. Why?
I often listen to online radio stations and set
programs to record. I especially like to record
"coast to coast AM" to listen to later. It
seems the stations will simply time out ,
without warning and it can be anywhere
from 20 minutes to 4 hours after beginning
especially on KFI Los Angeles { I heart
radio client} Is there anyway to prevent
this?
