  1. I solved it before the answer woho! similar logic, though the video answer was easier to calculate:P I used positive negative. Assuming that for example Green is + and Purple is -.

Nr 10 would say minus if 1 to 9 equals minus.
Nr 9 observes that 1-8 equals minus, then he knows that the result when including himself (1-9) can only be minus if he himself is plus. Minus and plus = minus.

Where can I find examples of your knowledge of production value?

I like Sal's conversational approach. Maybe the lack of viewership has to do with, IDK, maybe math being an (unduly) unpopular subject?

  3. if they were in a line and could see all hats except ones own hat than the first person asked would say the hat to the person who will be asked next ensuring at least 9 people saved and a 50/50 chance of making a correct response. i love your videos but if they were under 3 min they would have more production value. they seem a little unrepresentative of your ability as a educator. amazing potential with a little editing and planning they would have 20X the views.

  4. @TheMsShuy that wouldn't work because if your saying the guy in front of you, he might have a different color than you, meaning you would die

so, if the colors altenated, every person would die because they are saying the person in front of them, which is different than their color

  6. Can't the back guy just say the colour of the guys hat in front of him and so on. So the guy at the back would say the colour of the hat in front of him and the 9th guy would say the colour of the eigth guy... The first guy would most likely be killed but every other person would be saved.

  7. Why don't they just take the hats off their heads and look at them?

  10. That beginning part really sounds like the storyline of the book "My teacher is an alien" and the others in the trilogy.

  12. These are great, but as a former teacher who had plenty of students who didn't have English as a first language or just moved here and didn't grow up with bob ross or start trek on TV, I found using these references and non-standard colors like 'mauve' - usually pronounced "mah-v" would trip students up in unexpected ways. the students might think 'bob ross' is relevant and then just get stuck. i tried to be as culturally agnostic as possible.

  15. The problem with this brain teaser is that it isn't specific enough. The approach I took was using touch to signify the color of the hat. The solution I came up with was that the first person would say the hat color of the one in front of him. Then, the next person knew the color of his hat, and could see if the person in front of him's color was the same or not. If it was the same, he would touch the next person's back, and still say his color. Then that person would know whether or not the color on his head was the same as the previous person's color or not. The people could keep doing the same thing down the line, and there would be a guarantee of 9 people being saved. Nowhere in the video does Sal say the method of touching another's shoulder or back cannot be used.
