Why do alot of religions tend to think ghosts are demons?

Question by Mr. T-Burg: Why do alot of religions tend to think ghosts are demons?
Personally, I am not doubting the existance of demons, but I feel where there is evil there is good. I think most so called spirits are of human origin and can be good or bad. I truly believe "demons" are of the rare variety.
